What is a DSLR camera?

When it comes to cameras you take pictures with, you have two basic types. One is a Point and Shoot camera. These are the most common cameras in most homes. These are used by the standard user. Then you have a dslr camera. This stands for Digital Single Lens Reflex camera. These are the cameras used by professionals and people that take photos as a serious hobby. The main difference is that dlsr cameras give you much more control on how the camera is operating. The other major difference is that dslr cameras allow you to change the lens on the front of the camera. Note- Different lenses are used for different purposes-when you get to a professional level.

Digital cameras for beginners

There are thousands of cameras you can buy. If you would like to have real control to take quality or professional pictures, then you must get a dslr camera and learn the basic manual controls. There are hundreds of dslr cameras you can buy. Some range from $400-$10,000. The reason for the large price range is that you have several leading camera brands. Such as Canon, Nikon, Panasonic, Pentax, Sony, etc… And then you have a range form the entry level to the professional level

Please keep in mind. With the right settings you can take FANTASTIC photos with ANY entry level camera. You DO NOT need a crazy expensive camera to achieve great results. My recommendation (if you don’t have a camera yet) is to go to your local camera store and speak with someone to find you an entry level camera to get started.

Learn how to use your camera correctly

Don’t forget, its not about having the most expensive equipment. Some people that go out and empty their bank account to get a “professional” camera later become disappointed. Theyre disappointed because they thought that they spend all their money and then they are set to take great photos with their camera. This is NEVER the case if you don’t take some camera lessons. In order to take excellent photos, you will need to take atleast a basic camera course. Trying to learn everything yourself is just setting yourself up for failure.

If you try to learn the camera yourself you are most likely going to get frustrated and discouraged. On the other hand, there are several courses available to you. Most range somewhere between $300-$500. HOWEVER. I do not suggest you go with one of these lessons. I recommend this Amazing book by an excellent photographer.
